LEAD BANK SCHEME


Under Lead Bank Scheme one of the commercial bank act as a consortium leader for coordinating the efforts of all credit institutions in each of the allotted districts for expansion of branch banking facilities and for meeting the credit needs of rural economy.

Role of Lead Banks

  1. Collection of various data from Scheduled Commercial Banks, RRBs, Co-operative Banks and other banks and various government agencies.
  2. Monitoring implementation of annual credit plan and government sponsored schemes in the district.
  3. Play lead role in poverty alleviation programmes launched by State/Central government.
  4. Preparation of annual credit plan for districts.
